Chess with Lamont

What it is

Chess makes a kid slow down. Before they touch a piece they have to look at the whole board, work out what the other person is trying to do, and think about what happens after their move. That habit does not stay at the chessboard — it follows them into the classroom and onto the block.

We work through positions together on a demonstration board, then everybody plays. Complete beginners are welcome. Plenty of kids start out knowing nothing more than what the pieces are called.
